言葉や情景をうけて沸き起こった記憶のようなものを素早くすくいあげるようにカタチにしています。
忘れていたことを思い出すために描いているのだと思います。

Keiko Tomita
Artist Statement
Tomita Keiko's work is mainly an internal world expressed in monochrome.
She draw up shapes and scenes that came to mind from emotions and words quickly and scoop up.
Although it is a new discovery, It is to reconfirm what we already know.
Representing animals, mountains, rainbows, boats, etc. in simple lines, shapes and colors is very effective for expressions of the inner world that change without stopping.
Sometimes it produces primitive expressions and simple and impressive depictions.
Primitive and powerful modern but timeless depictions boldly link the past
with the present and gain a shared awareness with the viewers.
The important thing about her acquisition of expressions
is that she studied archeology at university and experienced many sites of excavation.
Sometimes the site was a rich place of nature.
For her, who was born and grew up in the city, the color and texture of the soil
and excavated objects tells her the beauty of various textures,
giving her independence and inspiration.
Her first acquisition that did not learn art was copper prints and etching.
The old texture and monochrome world reminded her of earth and excavation, and she felt very close.
Since 2002 she belongs to DOUMU Copperplate Engraving Studio
and learned the basics of copper printmaking.
